The Department of Health disclosed Thursday that as of April 30, 26 infants had tested positive for the coronavirus diseases in the country--- the youngest is a 9-day-old baby in Cebu.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that they have yet to verify the accuracy of the data, but according to its epidemiology bureau, the 9-day-old baby is the youngest COVID-19 patient in the Philippines after testing positive on April 21.
The mother tested negative of the virus, DOH Central Visayas confirmed.
Among the infants who acquired the virus, 6 have already died, the DOH added.
As of April 30, the total COVID-19 cases in the Philippines is at 8,488, with 568 deaths and 1,043 recoveries. – PDD
