Villages in the country will soon have a Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) after the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) tasked local officials on Tuesday to establish a team to prevent the spread of 2019 n. coronavirus acute respiratory syndrome.

The BHERT will be composed of an executive officer, 2 barangay tanods, and 2 barangay health workers (nurse or a midwife) according to the PCOO.

Protective gears such as surgical gowns, gloves, goggles and mask will be provided by the government after President Duterte approved some Php2 billion allocation for healthcare personnel trying to contain the virus in the country.

“If symptoms of the virus are observed in an individual, the BHERT (Barangay Health Emergency Response Team) must immediately isolate the person suspected with coronavirus in a room away from the rest of the family members,” the PCOO said.
