Senator Franklin Drilon proposed Joint Resolution 11 that will extend the operations of ABS-CBN Corporation, the country’s largest TV network till 2022.
Drilon pointed out that since the Congress and the Senate are set to close in March, this will give time for the review on the renewal of its franchise.
Senator Grace Poe also said early Monday that the Senate will be having a hearing on February 27, which Senate President Victor Sotto III, Zubiri and Drilon agreed.
Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri referred JR11 to the Committee on Public Services, after it was first passed to the Committee of Rules.
“Similar resolutions are now pending in the committee and these concerns the franchise of ABS-CBN. There will be a hearing scheduled on February 27,” Drilon said.
