The Department of Health confirmed this Friday on a 9am press briefing, bringing the regional tally to five (5).

The DOH revealed that the patient went to Guam on February 2020, the time where cases of COVID-19 were starting to spike, and went back to Manila on March 09. She then traveled back to Burauen, Leyte with 16 other passengers. She is now confined to a referral hospital in the region.

The department also conducted a contact tracing for the other 16 passengers who are now classified as ‘asymptomatic’.

DOH-8 advised the public to observe strict social distancing measures and follow quarantine protocols but clarified that the case in Leyte is not due to local transmission.
