Senator Manny Pacquiao clarified that the senators present during the hearing of ABS-CBN and six other broadcasting companies' appeal for franchise renewal was part of their job and denied the allegation of House Speaker Alan Cayetano that they are just doing it to gain the favor of the networks.
"As a legislator siguro, ginagampanan lang namin 'yung trabaho namin. Karapatan natin na i-hear 'yung, suportahan 'yung hearing ng franchise so siguro wala naman kaming nilabag doon," Pacquiao said.
[Translation: As a legislator, we were just doing our job. We have the right to hear and support the franchise thus we violated nothing by doing so.]
Cayetano slammed the senators saying that they are just 'sipsip' and that the hearing is not constitutional since hearing of franchise bills begin in the Lower Chamber.
Poe who chaired the hearing on Tuesday however said that adding names cheapens the debate and argument still against Cayetano's 'sipsip' remark.
