“Salamat sa Evergreen Chapels na pumayag na regular rate lang ang sisingilin nila,” said Mayor Sotto. He also assured that necessary DOH protocols are being followed to ensure safety for all, “wag mag-alala, mahigpit tayong sumusunod sa mga protocol ng DOH at 100% ligtas po ito,” he added.

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay also announced on Tuesday, April 14, that the local government will shoulder cremation expenses of residents who succumb to COVID-19. The city government partnered with NewLife Techwin, Incorporated for a one-year contract to provide two crematories.

The contract also includes the construction of a temporary crematorium at the Makati Park and Garden.

“In these trying times, the city government wishes to show its support and compassion for the family of the deceased by shouldering the cremation expenses. This is the least we could do to console them,” Binay said in a statement.

As of April 13, the Makati Health Department (MHD) recorded 177 COVID-19 cases in the city, with 18 fatalities, and 30 recoveries.
