NOVA SCOTIA, Canada--- At about 11:32 pm local time Saturday (10:32 PST), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to a “firearms complaint” in the small town of Portapique, Canada. Several casualties were seen inside and outside the home but the suspect escaped before the officers arrived. Little did they know, that the suspect will be making a few hour-rampage, killing at least 18 people which would become “one of the most senseless acts of violence in the province's history".
The suspect, Gabriel Wortman disguised as a police officer and wreaked havoc to ‘scattered’ places in the province. He was killed after being intercepted by police officers in a petrol station, 92km south of Portapique.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recognized the province as a ‘connected group’ and reminded the public to not give the suspect’s name “infamy”.
RCMP’s initial reports say that 18 people were killed, including a school teacher and three nurses.
The ban on all assault-style weapons has been tackled by the Canadian government before the parliament was dissolved due to COVID19.
